About

This website has been created to follow in the steps of the great John Muir who was a Scottish born naturalist that advocated the preservation of the wilderness in the United States.

Through his activism he helped to save the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas through out America.

One of the most well-known hiking trails in the U.S., the 211-mile (340 km) John Muir Trail, was named in his honour.

Students and teachers from Dunbar High School in Scotland set out each year to follow in the steps of John Muir and understand more of what drove this man to to take action to help preserve our natural world.

We hope that by reading this blog we can help inspire you and others to learn about John Muir, what he stood for, and what he achieved in his lifetime.
